Travelers' Health

Notwithstanding the negative image of Africa created by the news media, the continent's top safari destinations are all safe and relatively healthy places to travel to. Precautions need to be taken against malaria, and you may need some shots, but health preparations for your safari will not be particularly burdensome.

And, once you're on safari, you are likely to be pleasantly surprised by the high standards of health and hygiene at the properties themselves - all the properties in your itinerary provide safe drinking water and prepare food to first world standards, so it is safe to enjoy anything on the menu.

When in African cities, apply "common sense" precautions regarding food and drink - it is safe to eat and drink anything on the menu at your hotel, or at recommended restaurants, but we advise against consuming food or drink from street vendors or informal establishments. When in doubt, ask your guide or the hotel concierge/manager.

If you plan to consult a travel doctor / clinic, it's worth being aware that Costco offers travel medicine services (at very competitive rates) as part of Costco Pharmacy and Costco Clinical Services. Costco membership is required.
