Permanent Camps/Lodges

Most safari camps and lodges feature lights in the rooms and, where necessary, camp staff will provide flashlights for walking back to your room after dinner (accompanied by your guide). Keep your phone next to your bedside table at night, and you will be able to use the flashlight feature to avoid fumbling in the dark trying to find light switches in an unfamiliar environment.

Adventure Safaris

If you are embarking on a mobile camping or walking safari, a good flashlight will be an essential accessory. Ideally, this should be a powerful, yet compact. LED flashlight (e.g. SureFire), or a strong headlamp. Also, consider taking spare batteries and a spare bulb, as these are unobtainable on safari.
